1957 Kurtis 500-G2 Roadster at Motorsports 2009

With all the focus on vintage modifieds at Motorsports 2009 in Atlantic City, I thought I would focus on a few of the pavement cars. My favorite by far is this 1957 Kurtis Roadster called the Brady Special, which was proudly displayed at the Trenton Speedway booth. For those who may not know, this was an Indy car, raced at tracks like Indianapolis and Trenton Speedway.

The Driver's name is listed as Al Keller. I have to say that I never heard of him, but I probably should have, because he is the guy who won the Nascar Grand National road race at Linden Airport in 1954 driving a Jaguar. Tragically, Al Keller died of injuries sustained in a champ car crash in 1961. If you want to know a little more about Al Keller, then go to his Wikipedia page here.

Want to know more about Kurtis Kraft and its founder, Frank Kurtis? You can find the Kurtis Kraft Wikipedia page right here.

If you look closely at one of the photos on the Kurtis Kraft Wiki page, you will see that the No. 43 Brady Special shown above is actually in the background in this photo.

Here is one more link to a photo of the No. 43 Brady Special in action at the Monterey Historic Races.
